You might have noticed it since a few days, but we have an impressive record of WiFi reachability coming from the mobile test: more than 241 km! Did we found the next super WiFi technology reachable hundreads of kilometers away?
Well, actually, it is too nice to be real, though the result about the distance itself is correct :-) Most of the WiFi Access Points are static, like a device covering a part of a campus. But some are not. And our record comes from a WiFi provided by a famous high-speed train linking Belgium and France. That Access Point relies itself on several cellular networks to provide Internet access during the traveller’s journey. In such cases, a phone might use two different source networks that are actually the same under-the-hood. So, if you want to beat the current result, you know what you have to do :-)
